2022 – 2023

2021– 2022: Project Updates and Statistics

The Mustique Charitable Foundation is dedicated to helping those who are in need in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

This year despite the challenging environment of both the pandemic and volcanic eruptions, we have continued our support by funding:

  • 192 partial scholarships for disadvantaged young Vincentians at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (Division of Technical and Vocational Education and Division of Teachers’ Education), and the four technical institutes: Barrouallie Technical Institute, Campden Park Technical Institute, Georgetown Technical Institute, and Kingstown Technical Institute.
  • The purchase of 6,995 books and support for literacy professionals covering 203 schools and potentially reaching 21,000-22,000 Vincentian children from age 3 and up to Form 5 (7th and 8th grades)

These numbers don’t convey the whole story. There are countless stories where the doors of literacy have been opened and the light of opportunity begins to shine for youth given the opportunity to learn a skill and feel the vital surge of pride so necessary for a productive life.

In addition, we disbursed $585,946 for volcanic relief to the Mustique Company to provide humanitarian aid (food, water, cots, and toiletries) to close to 5,000 displaced Vincentians.

Sadly, St. Vincent continues to suffer the effect of the volcanic eruptions and the increasing impact of the pandemic. Now, more than ever, our continuing commitment to help is a ray of light and hope to our Vincentian neighbors.

  • the purchase of 1,704 books for 126 preschools and 1 primary school and support for literacy professionals covering 225 schools and potentially reaching some 50,000 children.

Beyond the statistics, there is story after story of a child who can rise out of a wheelchair and lead a normal, happy childhood after a life-changing operation, a young starting reader where the doors of literacy have been opened and the light of opportunity begins to shine in, a jobless and dispirited youth given the opportunity to learn a skill and feel the vital surge of pride in accomplishment so necessary for a productive life. These stories are worth repeating.
