MCF Empowers Vincentian Youth Through Marion House Youth Assistance Programme (YAP)
June 16, 2026
The Marion House Youth Assistance Programme (YAP) has successfully concluded another impactful cycle of skills development and internship opportunities, empowering young people in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines with practical skills, confidence and greater preparation for the world of work.
This year, the programme was supported by the Mustique Charitable Foundation (MCF), focused on vulnerable, unemployed and at-risk youth between the ages of 15 and 25. Through practical training and hands-on internship experiences, these youths were given opportunities to develop skills in Auto Mechanics and Auto Body Repairs, as well as Food Preparation and Bar Service.
A total of 37 young people participated in the practical skills training, with participants gaining valuable exposure through training institutions, businesses and community-based organizations. The internship component allowed participants to put their newly acquired knowledge into practice in real-world environments, strengthening their technical abilities while developing teamwork, problem-solving skills, confidence and workplace readiness.
The programme culminated in a graduation ceremony on June 19, 2026, where participants were recognized for their accomplishments. Twenty-eight (28) young people received certificates in their respective areas of skills training, marking an important milestone in their personal and professional development.
Beyond the certificates, the programme has created opportunities for young people to see themselves differently, to recognize their abilities, build confidence and take meaningful steps toward employment and greater independence. Some participants have already gained employment and are making valuable contributions within their communities.
Marion House commended MCF for its commitment to supporting those in need in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), particularly young people who may otherwise face significant barriers to education, skills development and employment and expressed its appreciation to the Mustique Charitable Foundation for its engagement and continued focus on marginalized, vulnerable and at-risk youth across SVG.
As these young people move forward into employment, further training and new opportunities, their achievements serve as an encouraging reminder of what can be accomplished when communities, organizations and committed partners come together to invest in the potential of our youth.
