Rebuilding Lives Through Skills: MCF’s Grenadines Empowerment Project (GEMS) Delivers Lasting Impact

In the wake of the devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl, the Mustique Charitable Foundation (MCF) responded with more than immediate relief—we invested in long-term recovery by empowering Vincentians with practical, employable skills.

Through the Ministry of Education’s Grenadines Empowerment Project (GEMS), MCF funded vocational training programmes designed to help individuals and communities rebuild their lives while strengthening their economic resilience. The project provided opportunities for affected residents to develop skills that support both employment and entrepreneurship, ensuring that recovery would extend far beyond reconstruction.


A total of 82 individuals enrolled in the programme, with 69 participants successfully completing their training, representing an impressive 84% completion rate despite the many challenges families continued to face in the aftermath of the hurricane.
Training was delivered across multiple locations in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and covered areas critical to community recovery and sustainable livelihoods, including:

  • Carpentry (Bequia and Union Island)
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical Installation
  • Motor Vehicle Repairs
  • Agro-Food Processing
  • Fish Processing and Handling

These programmes equipped participants with practical skills to support rebuilding efforts, improve food security, strengthen local industries, and create new income-generating opportunities.

The impact of the project has already been evident. Several graduates have launched their own small businesses in agro-processing and fish processing, producing value-added products for local markets and community events. Others have secured employment in trades such as plumbing, electrical installation, and automotive repair, while some have continued their education through further technical training. In Union Island, participants in the carpentry programme even collaborated to construct a storage facility using the skills they acquired during the course—demonstrating the immediate value of the training to their community.

Kingstown Technical Institute Graduation Ceremony 2025–2026

The Kingstown Technical Institute (KTI) marked its Graduation Ceremony for the 2025–2026 academic year on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, celebrating another season of vocational and technical achievement. Under the theme “Strength and Perseverance Through Obstacles”, the ceremony highlighted the resilience of trainees who pushed through challenges to reach a major milestone.

The Mustique Charitable Foundation (MCF) proudly recognised the achievements of all trainees who completed their programs, especially the MCF scholarship recipients who were supported in their journey of professional growth.

In her address, KTI Principal Carolyn Nedd encouraged the graduates by reminding them that success requires more than natural ability. She stated that “talent alone does not guarantee success”; she told trainees to “remember the standards learnt in the classroom as it will carry you through into the real working environment.”

Speaking on behalf of MCF, Project Director Natalia Gill echoed the foundation’s commitment to TVET. She told trainees that “Today, you leave this institution with more than a certificate. You leave with practical skills, confidence, discipline and problem-solving abilities that employers value and communities need”.

The ceremony served as a celebration of hard work and determination, while also marking a transition into the real world—where graduates will apply their training with confidence, professionalism, and perseverance.

MCF extends sincere congratulations to all KTI graduates and looks forward to continued collaboration with the institution to support skill development, empowerment, and personal growth across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Graduation Ceremony for the Barrouallie Technical Institute (BTI) for the 2025–2026 academic year was held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, under the theme “Empowered by Skills, Driven by Purpose.” The Mustique Charitable Foundation (MCF) is proud to celebrate the achievements of the graduating class, which comprised 42 graduates who were recipients of MCF Partial Scholarship Awards.

The ceremony highlighted the determination, resilience, and hard work of the graduates as they successfully completed their vocational and technical programs. The theme served as a reminder that technical and vocational education equips individuals with the practical skills and confidence needed to make meaningful contributions to their communities and the national workforce.

The Mustique Charitable Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting technical and vocational education in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Through its Partial Scholarship Program, MCF continues to ease the financial burden on trainees, enabling them to remain focused on their studies and achieve their educational goals.

We are immensely proud of the accomplishments of our scholarship recipients and extend our heartfelt congratulations to all graduates. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Barrouallie Technical Institute as we work together to empower future generations through education, skills development, and opportunity.

The Campden Park Technical Institute (CPTI) celebrated the accomplishments of its graduating class on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, as students proudly crossed the stage after successfully completing their technical and vocational programs. The ceremony marked another milestone in the journey of individuals who have chosen to develop practical skills that will enable them to make meaningful contributions to their communities and the workforce.

The Mustique Charitable Foundation (MCF) was honoured to support 54 graduates through its Partial Scholarship Program, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to quality technical and vocational education throughout Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

During the ceremony, CPTI Principal Iran Rouse expressed his sincere appreciation to the Mustique Charitable Foundation for its unwavering partnership and generous support over the years. He acknowledged that MCF’s investment has played a significant role in helping trainees overcome financial barriers and successfully complete their programs.

Natalia Gill, Project Director of MCF, congratulated the graduates on their achievement and reaffirmed the Foundation’s passion for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). She noted that MCF firmly believes that technical and vocational education creates pathways to employment, entrepreneurship, and national development. She also announced that the Foundation has expanded its support to include the North Leeward Technical Institute, meaning that MCF now proudly assists all five (5) technical institutes in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

This milestone reflects the Foundation’s continued commitment to ensuring that students across the country have greater access to opportunities that empower them to build successful futures.

Georgetown Technical Institute Graduation Ceremony 2025-2026

The Georgetown Technical Institute (GTI) celebrated the achievements of its graduating class on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, under the inspiring theme, “Skilled Today, Leading Tomorrow: Hands-on Learning, Lifelong Success.” The ceremony recognized the hard work, perseverance, and growth of students who are now equipped with the practical skills and confidence to take the next step in their personal and professional journeys.

As a proud partner in technical and vocational education, the Mustique Charitable Foundation (MCF) was honoured to support 30 graduates through its Partial Scholarship Program. The Foundation remains committed to investing in opportunities that empower young people to build meaningful careers and contribute to the continued development of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Delivering remarks on behalf of MCF, Natalia Gill, Project Director, congratulated the graduates on reaching this important milestone and noted that

“skills-based education can change lives. It equips individuals not only with technical knowledge, but with the confidence, resilience, and practical experience needed to succeed in an ever-changing world.”

Reflecting on the ceremony’s theme, Kendal Sam, Principal of GTI, reminded graduates that the skills they have developed today are the foundation of tomorrow’s leadership. Through hands-on learning, they have gained more than qualifications—they have cultivated problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and a lifelong commitment to learning that will serve them throughout their careers.

Mustique’s Three Charity arms Unite to assist the Southern Grenadines Following Hurricane Beryl.


The Mustique Charitable Trust (MCT), the Mustique Charitable Foundation (MCF) & the UK Friends of the Mustique Charitable Trust (UKFMCT) came together on Tuesday 10th February 2026 to handover a sizeable donation to the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environmental Health and Energy.

The Mustique Charitable Foundation (MCF), represented by Project Director Natalia Gill, handed over dental equipment to the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environmental Health and Energy to support the reinstatement of dental services at the Ashton Community Clinic in Union Island, following extensive damage caused by Hurricane Beryl in 2024.

The equipment will significantly transform the clinic’s capacity to deliver oral health services to residents of Union Island and surrounding islands, many of whom experienced disruptions in access to essential healthcare following the disaster.

Also present were the Administrative Director, Avanell DaSilva & Administrative Assistant, Jolice George, representing the sister charity UKFMCT, which donated essential medical equipment to outfit both the Celina Clouden Hospital and the Mayreau Community Clinic. Additionally, in December 2025, MCT and UKFMCT collaboratively funded much-needed renovations of the Ashton Community Clinic and the Doctor’s Quarters at the Celina Clouden Hospital on Union Island.

Natalia Gill & Avanell DaSilva officially presented the equipment on behalf of the three organizations to representatives from the Ministry, including Permanent Secretary – Mrs. Nerissa Gittens, Chief Medical Officer – Dr. Simone Keizer-Beache, Medical Officer – Dr. Roger Duncan and other valued partners.

The representatives from the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environmental Health and Energy expressed immense gratitude for the continued partnership and support, noting that the donations and infrastructural upgrades will improve the quality and availability of healthcare services for Southern Grenadines residents.

Hurricane Beryl caused catastrophic damage across the Grenadines, including significant impacts on healthcare infrastructure. The combined contributions from the three charity arms of Mustique demonstrate a sustained commitment to rebuilding and enhancing resilience in affected communities.

Mustique Charitable Foundation Supports Early Literacy Through Expanded Hands Across the Sea Partnership

The Mustique Charitable Foundation (MCF) is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with Hands Across the Sea (HATS) to strengthen literacy across St. Vincent and the Grenadines. For the school year 2025-2026, this collaboration expanded to include the Early Pages Programme, an initiative designed to introduce preschoolers to the joy of reading at the earliest stages of their learning journey.

Through this programme, 20 preschools across the country received age-appropriate, engaging books to spark curiosity and build foundational literacy skills. In addition, 14 primary and secondary schools received new books, learning kits, and library materials to support remediation, revitalise school libraries, and restore resources impacted by Hurricane Beryl. Overall, more than 5,000 brand-new books and learning materials were donated, benefiting approximately 2,600 students and educators.

This initiative builds on nearly two decades of collaboration between MCF and HATS, during which more than 145,000 books have been donated to schools throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Together, MCF and HATS continue to invest in literacy as a cornerstone of education and community development.

Reflecting on the importance of these initiatives, MCF Project Director – Natalia Gill, though absent at the handover, sent a few words highlighting that this programme fully aligns with the Ministry’s early childhood curriculum, alongside continued investment in remedial reading, special needs support, and library rejuvenation, which reflects our shared commitment to equity, resilience, and opportunity in education.

By extending literacy support to early childhood centres, primary and secondary schools, and communities affected by devastating natural disasters, MCF and HATS are ensuring that students across the nation have the tools and inspiration they need to succeed. This partnership continues to evolve, guided by a shared vision to create brighter futures—one book at a time.

The Kingstown Technical Institute (KTI) marked its 2024–2025 Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, October 30, 2025, celebrating another successful year of vocational and technical excellence. The Mustique Charitable Foundation (MCF) proudly recognizes the achievements of thirty (30) trainees who completed their programs as recipients of the MCF Partial Scholarship.

In her address, KTI Principal Mrs. Carolyn Nedd expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Mustique Charitable Foundation. She commended MCF for its continued generosity, particularly through its support of partial lunch scholarships that benefitted 30 trainees during the academic year.

The Mustique Charitable Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing technical and vocational education across St. Vincent and the Grenadines. We are inspired by the hard work, determination, and success of our scholarship recipients and commend them on this milestone achievement.

Thirty-three (33) Partial Scholarships were awarded to final year students at the St. Vincent & the Grenadines Community College-Division of Teacher Education (SVGCC: DTE) on Thursday, 30th October 2025.

These bursaries are designed to assist recipients with key expenses such as transportation, meals, programme fees, and teaching practice.

Dean of the Division, Dr. Marise Butler, expressed her sincere appreciation to the Mustique Charitable Foundation for its ongoing support of both the institution and its students. She encouraged recipients to use the funds wisely and purposefully, reminding them that the bursary represents an investment in their personal and professional development.

Deputy Director of the SVGCC, Mrs. Veronica John-Luke, also extended congratulations to the awardees, commending them for their hard work and dedication as they prepare for their upcoming teaching practicum and extended heartfelt thanks to the Mustique Charitable Foundation for its continued partnership and invaluable contribution toward the growth and advancement of future educators across the nation.
